The Beaubassin-est Rural Community, in collaboration with the Tree of Hope committee of Cap-Pelé and Beaubassin-est, held an illumination of the Tree of Hope on November 17th in front of the Père-Edgar-T.-LeBlanc School in Grand-Barachois. Mayor Ola Drisdelle was very pleased to see so many people for this 1st Tree of Hope Lighting in Beaubassin-est. Camille Léger, President of the Tree of Hope committee of Cap-Pelé and Beaubassin-est, Josée Turgeon-Roy, Development Officer of Annual Campaigns for the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation, Pierrette Gallant, Principal at the Père-Edgar-T.-LeBlanc school, Josée LeBlanc, President of the student council at the school, Paulette C. Léger, cancer survivor, Father Emery Brien, priest of the parish, Maryse LeBlanc, Beaubassin-est councilor and president of the parents committee at the school, and her children choir took part in the ceremony.
Mayor Ola Drisdelle presented a donation of $ 1000.00 to the Tree of Hope committee of Cap-Pelé and Beaubassin-est during the 8th Annual Gala of Hope Saturday, November 19th at the Saint-André-LeBlanc Community Centre. He presented the municipality's contribution to Josée Turgeon-Roy, Development Officer of Annual Campaigns for the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation, and Lise Cormier, one of the organizers of the Gala. More than $12,000 was raised during the Gala in Saint-André-LeBlanc.
The money raised is for the Provincial Tree of Hope Campaign and will be presented during the Radiothon, the highlight of the Tree of Hope campaign. This year, the CBC Tree of Hope Radiothon and the Radiothon de l'Arbre de l'espoir de Radio-Canada Acadie, official broadcasters, will be held at the New Brunswick Community College in Dieppe on November 24th and 25th. In English, the 11th Radiothon will be Thursday November 24th from 6 to 10 am. In French, the 20th Radiothon will be Friday November 25th from 6 am to 8 pm.
